Journalism, televised news, expert analysis, investigative documentaries - all derive foundational substance from comprehensively developed factual narratives. Numerous cinematic productions, streaming series and theatrical works similarly draw from this wellspring - including the Broadway phenomenon Hamilton, adapted from Ron Chernow's 2004 historical biography. Recent Oscar nominations included Hamnet, adapted from Maggie O'Farrell's 2020 novel which acknowledges multiple narrative nonfiction inspirations.
